Mission: Antibacterial Pharmacology
Our current approaches to new antibacterial drug discovery integrate
genetics, bioinformatics, functional genomics, and compound driven
approaches to select targets for high throughput screening to identify
new antibacterial leads.
The antiviral programs are focused on the discovery of new agents against HIV and Herpesvirus. Our novel series of HIV protease inhibitors are active against all resistant virus and hold much promise as therapeutic agents. The herpesvirus research program is focused on finding inhibitors of the earliest steps of viral replication and also the prevention of reactivation from latency.
Infectious Diseases is also investigating the role of bacterial and viral virulence factors in human disease and devising strategies for intervention. It is the mandate of our research to use the latest knowledge and technology to discover and develop therapeutic agents that offer advances in the treatment of infectious diseases.© 2004 Lifetech Pharmacology.
